Life after weight loss surgery

The decision to have weight loss surgery is a major one. It’s not something that should be taken lightly, but it can be the best decision you ever made for your health and happiness. This post will discuss some of the factors that affect life after weight loss surgery may look like.

1. Improved health

After having weight loss surgery, you may experience a number of health benefits. These can include:

– lower blood sugar and cholesterol levels

– decreased risk for heart disease and stroke

– treatment or prevention of diabetes

– improved mobility and activity level

– decrease in joint pain caused by excess weight bearing down on the joints

– relief from symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)

– more energy, an ability to participate in more activities, and better overall health.

2. Engaging in physical activities

After your weight loss surgery procedure, you will be encouraged to participate in moderate exercise several times a week for 30-90 minutes per session. You will also be encouraged to increase your physical activity overall by walking more and increasing daily activities and exercise routines in your life (such as walking upstairs instead of using the elevator). The activity level may improve your mood, make you feel better about yourself, help you sleep better at night, and help manage stress.

3. Healthy eating habits

You will receive a set of guidelines from your surgeon post weight loss surgery in Tijuana, Mexico, to follow to maintain and continue with your new and improved lifestyle. This guideline includes daily vitamin supplements, and elimination of high-sugar and processed foods, and regular small meals throughout the day with no more than 30 minutes between each meal or snack. Generally, you should eat what you want but in moderation and maintain a stable body weight. Just because the pounds are coming off doesn’t mean that you should feel pressured to deprive yourself of the foods that you enjoy.

4. Self-image

Some patients undergo weight loss surgery to improve their self-image and self-esteem. Some may not feel confident because of their weight, but after surgery, they are no longer held hostage by their weight. When you are free from the bondage of your own body, you can concentrate on other things in life that make you happy and fulfilled.

6. Emotions about yourself and your body

The first big change that many patients report is how they look at themselves and their bodies. There was a time when they may have felt shame over the excess weight or judged their body as unattractive; now, those feelings are replaced with more positive thoughts and feelings about themselves and their new bodies.

7. Meditation and spirituality

Finally, some patients report that they gain a new sense of spirituality and connection to themselves, others, and the world around them. They feel more compassionate towards themselves and others, resulting in less stress and anxiety, more emotional stability with lower levels of depression, and greater feelings of happiness and fulfillment. This is all part of the process of having experienced such an incredible advancement in your physical and mental well-being.

It is possible that you will experience some or all of these changes after undergoing weight loss surgery, but the degree to which you experience these differences may vary depending on a number of factors (such as your overall health, lifestyle, support system, etc.) So, this should not be taken as a guarantee. Weight loss surgery is life-changing, but it isn’t for everyone. The decision to undergo weight loss surgery should be based on the individual’s goals and lifestyle.
